Views of the Cross

Views of the Cross is a different sort of Easter service, one that gives a more intimate view of the pillar of our faith: the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.

We have grown so used to the Easter story that we might forget that those who saw the Cross were real people watching the death of our Savior, without the benefit of 2000 years of hindsight. We might forget that the figure dragging the cross through the streets of Jerusalem was—to them—not a historical figure, but a man, beaten and bloodied. But, just as Good Friday leads to Resurrection Sunday, their understanding goes from wonder to realization to worship, each from his or her particular point of view. Views of the Cross is a series of readings, the testimony of people who might have been there.

For those who want to do the readings with music, as it was done originally at the First Baptist Church of Tucker, the complete program is included. For the original performance, appropriate music was pulled from the music library.
